Selecting a strategy and implementing it

There are elements of change in almost any management decision. Major changes and strategic decisions require change management, but also daily adjustments and small projects are often perceived as substantial changes for the people involved. It requires focus on change management and a special managerial effort.

To a large extent, change management is the art of selecting the strategy and implementing it.

Selection of the appropriate strategy requires a clear overview of internal and external conditions and foresight into future circumstances. Implementing the strategy demands psychological insight, timing, professional communication, courage and tactical sense.

Change management is the sum of all these considerations, and because just about everything that comes from the manager is perceived as change, change management is, or ought to be, a permanent, active discipline performed by all managers and management teams.
